Did I forget something?

What a way to start off the New Year. I caught someone's germs on Christmas Eve and was sick all last week. I started to feel better around the 2nd and B hadn't complained of any of the normal pre sickness symptoms so we thought he wasn't going to get it too!!! YIPEEEE!!! Then comes Sunday. Our last Raiders tailgate of the season. :( It was cold and windy and B didn't wear a jacket and I guess that is when he let the germies multiply and take over!

So I decided to make him some homemade chicken noodle soup. I was feeling 100% back to normal so I decided to take a walk to the grocery store. Got all the necessary ingredients.....carrots, white onion, celery, low sodium chicken broth, can of cream of chicken soup and pasta shells (as requested). Took frozen chicken out of the freezer that morning and put it in the fridge so it could defrost.

I came home and got the mise en place together. Chopped all the veggies, put the broth on a low simmer. Placed the onions in a pan to sweat them, added the celery and carrots, cooked until onions became translucent. Added veggies to the broth. Put the shells in boiling water. Combined all ingredients once the shells were done. Served it to B. He came back for seconds and then asked me if the soup had chicken in it!! OF COURSE IT DID.....NOT! Total brain fart. So I guess I made veggie soup with shell pasta. Not an epic fail but just as embarrassing.

  3. Well, I mean, it wasn't TOTALLY devoid of chicken, right? You used cream of chicken soup and chicken broth.... so there was a hint of chicken. That totally counts.

(I also really dig that you used soup to make... soup. Clever! ;0)
